The schedule for this week is a bit unusual. I will be out of town on Wednesday and Thursday.
All but those representing the parents will meet with your clients at 99 Hudson Street on Thursday, June 17 morning at 9:30 am.
Those who represent the parents will meet with the mother (Lifsha) at CUNY Law School on Wednesday, June 16 at 2:00 pm. You can meet her in the Purchasing Office, on the Second Floor, opposite the stairs and elevators (it's the room with a window where you pay for parking permits, among other things; ask for Carol Rosenthal).
Those representing the parents will meet with their supervisor, Margaret McIntyre, on Monday, June 14, at 1:30 pm, in her office at 35 Worth St.
Those representing Hannah will meet with their supervisor, Laura Gentile, on Monday, June 14, at 2:00 pm at her office at 226 Fifth Avenue (26th St.).
Those representing CWA will meet with their supervisor, Matthew Wilkes, on Wednesday, June 16, at 9:30 am at his office at New York Law School, which is at 47 Worth St. Get there a few minutes early to get a visitor's pass and directions to his office.
Those representing Jack will meet with their supervisor, Sam Sue, at 99 Hudson Street at 9:30 am on Wednesday, June 16 at 99 Hudson.
Class starts on Monday. I hope you are looking forward to it as much as I am. We meet in Room 7-6 of 99 Hudson Street. The building is near the Chambers Street subway stop for the 1,2,3,9, A, and C lines. Class starts at 9:00, please be prompt; we have a lot of logistics to work out.
There are some changes. I'll be teaching the class alone; Alice Morey's work with the school's workfare clinic has pulled her away from being able to teach LFR/Seminar.
On Tuesday, June 8, class meets at 9:30 promptly in Room 118 of 110 Livingston Street (the Board of Education) in Brooklyn (near the Borough Hall Subway stop). The hearings start at 9:30, so you should get there a few minutes early. Dress for success. Please read and review the Court Visit assignment in the materials. Be respectful of the fact that you will be viewing a window into the lives of real people in a context of real stress. We'll meet after the hearing to discuss your reactions. Then at 2:30 we go to the Library in Family Court at 283 Adams Street (down the block from the Board of Ed). We will meet with internship supervisors and allocate students to internships at that time. If you are interested in an internship, you must be at that meeting.
Both the Board of Ed and Family Court require you to pass through metal detectors. Leave the hardware at home and give yourself a few extra minutes for the cavity search.
At the Board of Ed you are looking for the Impartial Hearing Office; at Family Court, the Library (for a meeting with Judge Lauria).
See you Monday
Also, you must return to Lea (Room 330G) or confirm with her individually that you have destroyed, Impartial Hearing Packet 5. That Packet will be distributed later; reading it now would destroy an important component of the simulation. So, please do not read it, and please see Lea about it. I apologize for our error of distributing it with the other materials.--John.
